“The Tide” is an interdisciplinary feminist performance that explores bodily autonomy, gender inequality, and the invisible forces that shape women’s lives. Through a fusion of physical theater, voice work, movement, and visual storytelling, the piece raises urgent questions: Who owns a woman’s body? How does society exert control over it? Is the female body inherently political?

The title “The Tide” draws inspiration from the Italian feminist movement and symbolizes a natural force that is both strong and gentle—a fitting metaphor for the collective rise of women’s voices against oppression.

Rooted in personal and collective experiences, this project is an ongoing research into power, identity, and resistance. Using a combination of improvisation, somatic practices, and spoken word, we delve into themes such as beauty standards, reproductive rights, and the intersection of politics and patriarchy.

This work-in-progress presentation will showcase selected scenes and movement explorations developed during our residency at VOIX POLYPHONIQUES. We invite the audience to engage with the research process, offering feedback and reflections as we continue shaping the final performance.
